Tempe provides customers with rebates and grants to support water conservation and efficiency upgrades. View a summary of resources available to commercial customers (PDF) and residential customers (PDF). Explore the following details or submit a rebate application.

Tax Information

Applicants receiving $600 or more in rebate monies total from the City of Tempe in a calendar year must submit a W-9 (PDF) form with their application.

Landscape Conversion Rebate - Receive 25 cents per square foot of landscape converted from grass to desert landscape, up to $2,000 per home.

TreeBate - Receive a rebate of 100%, up to $75, for the purchase price of desert plants. Qualifying plants include trees, shrubs, cacti, succulents and groundcover.

High-Efficiency Toilet Rebate - Receive a rebate of 50% of the purchase price, up to $75, of a new high-efficiency toilet that flushes 1.28 gallons per flush or less. Each home can upgrade up to two toilets.

High-Efficiency Irrigation Rebate - Upgrade an existing irrigation system with high efficiency spray nozzles, rain sensors and/or smart controllers and receive up to $500.

Gray Water Recycling Systems Rebate - Receive a rebate of 50%, up to $200 per household, for the purchase of gray water system components.

Water Efficiency and Education Grant (WEEG)

The Water Efficiency and Education Grant (WEEG) program was created for the commercial, industrial and institutional customer classes. This program is open to all non-residential customers in Tempe’s Water Service Area seeking significant water efficiency upgrades. Eligible projects may include upgrades in water efficiency for domestic consumption, landscaping, cooling towers and industrial process modifications. Applications for this program open each spring. School Gardening Grant

Tempe helps schools create gardens with educational components. Receive grants up to $1,000 per unique project. To apply, schools must submit an application and include a proposed budget and garden plan. Download a copy of the grant application here. Cost Match Tree Program

Tempe's new Cost Match Tree program provides 50% of the cost of a 15-gallon or 24” boxed-sized tree for single family residents in Tempe. Learn more here.
