The City of Tempe offers a desert plant rebate (also known as "TreeBate"). This rebate provides up to $75 toward the purchase of desert-adapted plants installed on a Tempe Single Family Residential property each fiscal year (July 1 to June 30). Examples of desert plants can be found at theLandscape Plants for the Arizona Desert website.
Rebate Application Checklist:
- Review Rebate Terms and Conditions.
- Consider if your project qualifies for another rebate. Projects that include a smart controller update or irrigation system upgrade may qualify for the High-Efficiency Irrigation Rebate. Projects that include a landscape conversion may qualify for a landscape conversion rebate. A separate application is required for each rebate.
- Applicants must complete the self-paced, online Tree Care Class online. Applicants may alternatively choose to attend a workshop from the sustainable living workshop series in-person or virtually.
- Review the New Tree Care Guidelines.
- Review the list of approved trees on the Phoenix Active Management Area Low-Water-Use/Drought-Tolerant Plant List or the Landscape Plants for the Arizona Desert.
- Purchase your trees, retain a copy of the itemized receipt and install them promptly.
- Complete the workshop and Rebate Application Form within 90 days of the date listed on the itemized plant receipt(s).
