Pilot program

The City of Tempe offers a desert tree rebate (also known as "TreeBate") for non-residential customers. This rebate provides 50% of the cost of the tree up to $100. City businesses can use this rebate for up to five desert adapted trees per site. Examples of desert trees can be found at the Landscape Plants for the Arizona Desert website.

Rebate application checklist:

  1. Review Rebate Terms and Conditions.
  2. Consider if your project qualifies for another rebate. Projects that include a landscape conversion may qualify for a landscape conversion rebate. A separate application is required for each rebate.
  3. Review the New Tree Care Guidelines.
  4. Review list of approved trees on the Arizona Department of Water Resources Low Water Use Drought Tolerant Plant List or the Landscape Plants for the Arizona Desert.
  5. Purchase your plants, retain a copy of the itemized receipt and install them promptly.
  6. Take before and after pictures of the location the plant is being planted.
  7. Complete the Rebate Application Form within 90 days of the date listed on the itemized plant receipt(s).
  8. Conservation will contact you to schedule an outdoor water efficiency consultation.
