The Family Justice Commission also advises the City Council and assists City departments in coordinating cross training and multi-disciplinary tools to provide training opportunities to criminal justice personnel and healthcare providers about educational initiatives and systems based standards of practice that are critical to serving the victims of domestic and sexual violence and keeping them safe; and expanding education and outreach to vulnerable populations.

The Family Justice Commission is composed of 11 members who shall serve three-year terms for no more than two consecutive terms.  Members are from each of the following professional categories with expertise in the fields of domestic violence, sexual assault, or sex trafficking: 

• two faculty members from Arizona State University;

• one member from the CARE 7 Crisis Response Team;

• one member from the Tempe Police Department;

• one health care provider;

• one member from the nonprofit sector;

• one legal services provider; and,

• four At-large members who reside, work, or attend school within the City of Tempe. 

The Family Justice Commission typically meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 4:00 p.m., in the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, unless otherwise noted on the meeting agenda.
