Stay cool. Stay hydrated. Stay informed.

Arizona’s heat can be dangerous and sometimes deadly for people who are unsheltered, those who are ill, older adults and households without access to adequate air conditioning. In 2023, Maricopa County heat-related deaths surged 52% compared to the previous year, resulting in 645 deaths due to extreme temperatures.

If you need help or know someone who does, call the city's 24/7 CARE & HOPE Line at 480-350-8004.

Give help

Can you help a neighbor in need? Donations of bottled water are needed to stock the city's Cooling Centers and assist our HOPE homeless outreach team in their work. Two ways to help:

  • Donate to the city's July Water Drive at four locations: Hundred Mile Brewing, Church of the Epiphany, Community Christian Church and University Presbyterian Church. If you donate at Hundred Mile, you could win a $100 gift card! Get all the details below.
  • Stop by at a special Breakfast with Berdetta event Saturday, July 20, from 9 a.m.-noon at Pyle Adult Recreation Center, 655 E. Southern Ave. No RSVP needed. Just stop by any time to drop off donations and receive a free breakfast treat. Your generous donations will help keep our neighbors healthy and safe.

Heat safety

Resources are available to help our community stay safe and healthy.  Start by watching Maricopa County's heat safety video to learn about the dangers of heat, who is most at risk, how to stay safe and what signs to watch out for when it comes to heat-related illnesses like heat stroke.
