Originally funded by a grant from the Arizona Department of Water Resources, the Garden is maintained by Tempe Water Conservation in partnership with Tempe Parks

The Tempe Xeriscape Demonstration Garden is located at the City of Tempe Women's Club Park (1265 N. College Avenue). Xeriscaping is a style of landscape design requiring little to no irrigation or other maintenance and is popular in arid regions. Many people refer to this as zeroscaping, which would infer no landscaping. Part of the word “xeri” comes from the Greek word Xeros, which means “dry”.

The Garden showcases desert-friendly landscape plants from around the world. New interpretive signs provide visitors with a guided tour of the garden where they can learn about water conservation, proper planting techniques, irrigation practices, plant care and more. Many plants are marked with botanical signs providing visitors with plant species identification, water and sunlight requirements, mature size and natural habitat. For more information on the practices exhibited at the garden, visit Xeriscaping: Landscaping with Style in the Arizona Desert.

We hope visitors find inspiration for their own landscape during time spent here. The main walking path is paved and accessible for all. There are multiple unpaved trails around the garden, as well, but these are not all wheelchair accessible.

The parking lot entrance is on Weber Drive, and there is one wheelchair accessible parking space on site.
