The Testing and Hiring Process Includes:

  • Application Process:
    • The process begins by completing an online application during application windows.
  • A CritiCall Test:
    • This is a computer-based online test that measures a person’s skills and abilities relating to Public Safety dispatching. Areas that are assessed are: Decision making, data entry speed and accuracy, call summarization, cross referencing, memory recall of numeric and alphanumerical data, prioritization, map reading and sentence clarity.  Please note: The link to Criticall is a resource guide for applicants.  Actual tests results may vary.
  • Oral Board Interview:
    • Applicants that successfully pass the CritiCall test will be contacted and scheduled for a panel interview.
  • Background Investigation:
    • Applicants that are recommended from the panel interview will be scheduled for an interview with a background investigator who will interview the applicant and complete a thorough review of the applicant's background.
  •  Polygraph Exam
  • Psychological Evaluation:
    • This evaluation ensures the applicant is prepared for a successful career as a Communications Dispatcher.
  •  Conditional Offer
  • Medical / Drug Screening:
    • Applicants who successfully complete the psychological evaluation and are offered employment will be scheduled for a drug screen, at our expense, for examination.

Out-of-State Applicants: Out-of-state applicants can complete several of the steps in the hiring process remotely.  Every effort will be made to reduce the travel for out-of-state candidates where available.
