The City of Tempe provides urban irrigation services (also known as "Flood Irrigation") to 17 city parks and about 850 residential customers. To accomplish this, irrigators maintain over 37 miles of irrigation mains, operate more than 1,000 irrigation valves and coordinate delivery of SRP irrigation water. The Flood Irrigation team supports approximately 14,500 individual irrigation deliveries annually.

To report irrigation water flooding outside of property boundaries, call the Salt River Project 24-hour hotline at 602-236-3333.
To cancel any irrigation run operated by Tempe’s Flood Irrigation Service, call Tempe Customer Services at 480-350-8361 at least 24 hours before the scheduled irrigation day.

Schedule information
Irrigation water is delivered beginning at 10 p.m. on Sunday and may take several days to complete. On city-observed holidays, the irrigation run will be delayed until 10 p.m. on Monday. Water is not provided in November or December due to Salt River Project dry-up.
Tips for successful irrigation
- Inspect the property during irrigation.
- Remove pets from the area.
- Trim grass to less than six inches and maintain berms.
- Clear leaves or debris from pipes under driveways and walkways.
- Remove items from the yard that could be damaged or pose a safety concern.
- Provide clear access to the irrigation valve.
- Allow only Tempe staff to operate the valves.
- Report valve issues or tampering by calling 480-350-8361.
