Heal the Hero Foundation

Beginning in the fall of 2020, members in various assignments within the Tempe Police Department will participate in a brain performance program offered by Vitanya Brain Performance Centers. This program focuses on lowering the effects of trauma, increasing mental resilience and dramatically improving all aspects of executive functioning and performance.

Participants will partake in brain therapy sessions twice per week with each session lasting approximately 20 minutes. The brain treatment is designed to restore relaxation and focus which contribute to the reduction of trauma and stress and help build mental resilience. heal the hero LogoVitanya Logo

On-duty Health Screenings

In 2020, the department began providing employees and opportunity to visit with AZ Heart Fit for Duty to complete a yearly health screening.  These screenings were conducted during the employees work hours to make it more convenient for employees to participate.  These screenings are typically done in during two visits to the health care provider.

The second visit incorporates the results of the collected bloodwork, as well as counseling by the mobility expert and health care provider.  The importance of physical health on duty is extremely vital in keeping officer’s and the public safe during incidents.

Quarterly Newsletter

During the spring of 2020, the Department began electronically distributing a newsletter that provides different information pertaining to wellness, financial referrals, retirement, nutrition and physical fitness.  This newsletter will also serve to notify personnel of our yoga classes as well as any other wellness opportunities that employees can attend.  This provides more resources and avenues for our Officers to become more well-rounded without having to search for resources on their own.
