In 2019 Detective Bennett received the Protector Award, at the Champions for Youth Ceremony.

Detective Bennett serves as the SRO at Tempe High and his constant steadiness, smile, and kind presence is his superpower. Every day he inspires a generation of Tempe High Buffaloes and has changed the perception for students of what a police officer is and does. Det. Bennett has already saved the life of a Tempe High student by helping to get the appropriate care during a crisis.
