Home MenuTempe Coalition for Affordable Housing
The non-profit Tempe Coalition for Affordable Housing (referred to as The Affiliate) was created by the City of Tempe Public Housing Authority in 2018. The goal of The Affiliate is to purchase single-family homes, townhomes and apartments that will remain permanently affordable for individuals and families in Tempe.
The Affiliate owns approximately 60 units and is continually exploring strategies to expand affordable housing opportunities.
Most of the units have been purchased using federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds; others have been donated by the City of Tempe.
Emergency Housing
The Affiliate's Emergency Unit program sets aside several units for those experiencing homelessness and victims of domestic violence. The program is operated in conjunction with CARE 7, the city's crisis response program, and the HOPE homeless outreach team. Read an update here.
The Emergency Unit program has been recognized by the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials with an Award of Merit for program innovation.
COVID-19 Recovery
As part of the City of Tempe's COVID-19 Recovery Initiative, The Affiliate has purchased nine units with federal funds. Some of those units are being used as part of the Emergency Unit program.
