Being home alone can be a concern for people living with memory loss.

Whether living alone or sharing a home, a person living with memory loss may not have a caregiver at all times of the day thus making their safety a major concern.   The City of Tempe has a number of programs through the Police and Fire Medical Rescue departments that can help residents create a household safety net for people in their care.

(Tempe Endangered And Missing) TEAM Reunite

The Tempe Police Department's (Tempe Endangered And Missing) Team Reunite encompasses anyone within Tempe – residents, workforce, visitors, and students – who is at risk of becoming missing or wandering away, including people with dementia and cognitive impairments.  To learn more, call 480-350-8780 or email  teamreunite@tempe.gov.

Smart911.com

Providing additional household details via the Smart911 program can give 9-1-1 dispatchers and first responders critical information they need in an emergency. The City of Tempe subscribes to the Smart911.com service for its residents and workforce.  To learn more, call 480-350-8780.

Secure Lockbox and Vial of Life Program

For seniors who live alone and have a physical disability or a medical condition, a lockbox at home gives fire and emergency personnel immediate access when responding to an emergency. A vial containing personal medical and health information form is kept safe in the refrigerator for retrieval by those first responders. This program is free to qualifying residents. For more information, contact the Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department at 480-858-7241.
