Dementia Friendly Tempe (DFT), part of Dementia Friendly America, is the first dementia friendly city in Arizona. The City of Tempe provides programs that share information and resources to help you learn and understand more about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia-related diseases.
Know the 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s disease, the most common form of dementia
- Memory loss that disrupts daily life
- Challenges in planning or solving problems
- Difficulty completing familiar tasks at home, at work, or at leisure
- Confusion with time or place
- Trouble understanding visual images and spatial relationships
- New problems with words in speaking or writing
- Misplacing things and losing the ability to retrace steps
- Decreased or poor judgment
- Withdrawal from work or social activities
- Changes in mood and personality
If you or someone you care about are showing any of these signs you should ask others you trust if they are seeing these changes and schedule an appointment with your doctor or a specialist (neurologist, geriatric psychiatrist or geriatrician).
