How to Obtain a Copy of:
- Police Report

To obtain a copy of a Police Report:
Per ARS 39-127, a VICTIM of a criminal offense has the right to receive one free copy of their police report at no charge.
- Complete a written request form, in person or by mail. (Electronic, telephonic or fax requests are not accepted).
- Payment in the form of cash, check or money order made payable to the City of Tempe submitted at the time of request. Payments may be sent by mail or brought to the lobby. VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express payments are also accepted in the lobby.
- Requester will be notified if additional fees apply. ($0.25 per each page over 20 pages)
- Please indicate on your request if you are the victim. No payment is required with your request if you are a victim.
To obtain a copy of a Traffic Accident Report:
The Tempe Police Department has partnered with BuyCrash to provide our accident reports online. Accident reports approved for public release are available online from November 1, 2021 to the present. Please note, accidents involving criminal reports such as DUIs and fatal traffic accident reports are not available on through BuyCrash.
- You will need the Tempe Police Department report number (GO#), date of accident, and a valid credit card to access your report for a quick and easy download. You may also purchase a copy of your accident report directly through the Tempe Police Records Bureau.
- Documents provided to you in response to a public records request will be edited in accordance with A.R.S. § 41-4172, while mindful of the provisions and purpose of the public records law set forth in Title 39 of the Arizona Revised Statuses. Information subject to editing includes, but is not limited to: dates of birth, VIN’s, driver’s license numbers, addresses, telephone numbers and social security numbers.

To obtain a Letter of Verification (Good Conduct letter):
This notarized letter will provide you a local search of Tempe Police Records by name and date of birth only. (Not fingerprint based)
- Please complete the Letter of Verification form.
- Submit request in person or by mail.
- Include a photocopy of a government issued ID (DL, State issued ID card, Passport, etc.)
- COST: Cash, check, money order, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express are accepted.
- Letter processing time is five (5) business days.
To obtain a copy of Photographs, 911 Tape / Transcript or Video:
- Complete a written request form, in person or by mail. (Electronic, telephonic or fax requests are not accepted).
- Payment in the form of cash, check or money order made payable to the City of Tempe submitted at time of request. Payments may be sent by mail or brought to the lobby. VISA, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express payments are also accepted in the lobby.
- Requester will be notified if additional fee apply (videos over 1 hour).
