Where to Begin: A Roadmap to Understanding and Having Tough Conversations on Race

The topic of race and race relations is everywhere today, but how do we begin to have meaningful discussions with each other? How do we bridge the gaps in vocabulary and history?

The City of Tempe, Arizona State University and Tech Data have come together to create a tool kit to help us start talking with each other and find ways to come together.

This video includes remarks by:

- Corey Woods, Mayor of Tempe, Arizona
- Dean Jonathan Koppell, Dean of Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions, ASU
- Cal Jackson,
Tech Data, Director of Diversity & Inclusion, Global Programs
- Colleen Jennings-Roggensack, Vice President, ASU Cultural Affairs
- Kenja Hassan, Director, ASU Cultural Relations
- Dr. James Wermers, Clinical Assistant Professor of Humanities, Languages and Cultures unit in the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts at ASU

In the accordion below, please find books you can read, movies and shows to watch and organizations where you can get involved. As always, the Tempe Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Office is available for questions and suggestions. Email us.
