Wildlife
Tempe Town Lake is an urban oasis for an abundance of wildlife. From the fish in the lake to the many rabbits on the north side, many animals call Town Lake home. Look for the bald eagle overhead, a beaver or two near the east end of the lake, osprey, great blue heron and many other birds. Check out the Town Lake Safari Guide for details.
Habitat Areas
The City of Tempe and the Army Corps of Engineers have partnered to create lush desert landscapes near the Indian Bend Wash entry to Town Lake and on both sides of the lake. Read more about them
Historic Areas
Loma del Rio and LoPiano Habitat both have special significance to Tempe historically. Native Americans helped our community long before the 1800s and these sites are proof.
