Construction of the new dam finished on May 7, 2016. These photos document the construction process.   

Feb 10 

Crews began pumping water out of Tempe Town Lake on Feb. 10 using these four pumps. The pumps move the water from Town Lake into the SRP canal system where it will be used for urban irrigation, such as lawns, parks and other needs. Together the pumps move about 10,000 gallons per minute. Town Lake holds about 800 million gallons of water.

Construction continues on the new dam. Crews are installing hydraulic cylinders the height of about three or four people. PCL construction will install the remaining gate and finish any work that is required between the two dams and prepare to remove the rubber bladder dam by end of February.
