 History:

The Tempe Woman’s Club Xeriscape Garden sits at the most Eastern edge of the Carl Hayden Campus for Sustainability. The garden, created in 1995, highlights both Sonoran and Mediterranean plant palettes and provides practical ideas for backyards and workplaces. The garden also features an area that attracts hummingbirds.

The circular playground, accessible walkways and a new ramada were completed in December 2020. All designs and equipment for the new amenities were chosen in partnership with stakeholders in the Water Conservation Division and local residents.

The improvements are funded out of the city’s Capital Improvement Program budget, as part of the Parks Improvement Plan, which is reinvesting more than $60 million into Tempe parks over the next few years . Additional modifications or enhancements to other park amenities are not included in the budgeted amount.
