Work began the week of August 27, 2018 to refresh the artistic ramadas at Hanger Park. The project is now awaiting refreshed lighting, but is otherwise complete.

Background:

In cooperation with the City of Tempe and residents as part of an overall art plan for Hanger Park, the ramadas were designed by local Tempe artist Laurie Lundquist and installed in 1997.

The ramadas will retain their original design while lighting, roofing mesh, and any rusting structural supports will be refreshed and reinforced with the input of the artist.

These improvements are funded out of the city’s Capital Improvement Program budget, as part of the Parks Improvement Plan, which is reinvesting more than $60 million into Tempe parks over the next five years.
