BACKGROUND: 

Construction began November 27 on improvements to Celaya Park.  These improvements include a new playground, accessible pathways into the park, resurfacing of the basketball court, area lighting, and a new picnic ramada.

In addition, 60 new trees were planted in the park the week of January 21. These trees are part of the "Right Tree, Right Place" partnership with SRP. Click here to find out more.

The improvements will be funded out of the city’s Capital Improvement Program budget, as part of the Parks Improvement Plan, which is reinvesting more than $60 million into Tempe parks over the next few years.
