The City of Tempe works to offer opportunities for play, shaded spaces, and comfort in our neighborhood parks.

Thank you to all of the neighbors who provided input on the location and design of a ramada for Alegre Park! The feedback received showed support for a 20’ x 20’ picnic ramada just east of the playground at the picnic area.

What’s next?

Park design is next, which will lay out all improvements for the park, including:

  • Shade structure
  • Artist-designed rubber surfacing
  • Trees

The improvements are funded out of the city’s Capital Improvement Program budget, as part of the Parks Improvement Plan, which is reinvesting more than $60 million into Tempe parks over the next five years . Additional modifications or enhancements to other park amenities are not included in the budgeted amount.
