Instructional Classes for 50+

You may drop-in to the following classes at Pyle for $5-$8.
Be sure to check the session schedule in the Tempe Opportunities Brochure or the Roadrunner updated for class dates and times.
Bones & Balance: Monday or Friday 10:30 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
Chair Yoga Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Fridays 9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. Tap Dance, Beginning: Mondays 10:40 a.m. or Thursdays 11:15 a.m. Tai Chi Body Balance I: (Fall, Winter, Spring only) Mondays or Wednesdays, 12 noon-1:00 p.m.
Zumba: Fridays 10:40-11:35 a.m.
Zumba Toning: Mon., Wed., Fri., 8:15-9:10 a.m.
Line Dance Intermediate: 5:00 p.m. -5:45 p.m. Seated Strength: Monday 9:30 a.m.
LUNCH PROGRAMS
Join us for our Tuesday Lunch, which is a light, low-cost meal and social time run by senior volunteers and staff. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. The cost is $3 for RTA members; $4 for non-members. Register by the Monday before.
The Pyle Thursday Special Event Lunch Program begins at 11:30 a.m. (unless otherwise noted) and is followed by entertainment or activities. Advance registration is required and you may register for the entire month. Registration and payment are required by the Tuesday before.
Two ways to register:
•ONLINE (you will need the registration code which can be found in the Roadrunner Chronicle) OR
• stop by the Pyle Center front desk, or any Tempe community center, to register in person.

Benefits Assistance Program
Offered by the Area Agency on Aging, this program provides objective information about insurance and benefits to seniors, the disabled, and caregivers.
A trained Benefits volunteer is available at Pyle on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, 9:30-11:30 a.m. by appointment only. Call the Pyle Front Desk (480-350-5211) to reserve your time slot.
Services include:

Assistance with organizing Medicare and Supplemental claims information to ensure that all benefits are paid and obligations to providers are satisfied.

Up-to-date information and assistance on Medicare Part D prescription drug program.

Information regarding HMOs, managed care, Medicare Supplement plans (Medigap) and options under Medicare.
-
Assistance with Medicare appeals and resolving problems.
Looney Tooners Kitchen Band and Pyle Bluegrass & Folk Jam Sessions (Call Pyle to confirm activities)
Kitchen Band meets on Mondays, 9:30 to 11:00 p.m. and Bluegrass Folk meets on Mondays, 12 noon to 2:30 p.m. Both groups welcome all level players. Even if you don't play an instrument, you are welcome to come listen and tap your toes - no registration required!
BINGO
Join us every Wednesday. Cards are 50¢ each with a maximum of ten cards. Doors open at 12:15 p.m. and the games begin at 1:00 p.m. You must arrive before 1:00 p.m. to play – late arrivals are not allowed in the Bingo room. Those 18 years and older may play.

Card and game groups meet on different days and times throughout the week at Pyle. Call for more information or check out our calendar in this month's Roadrunner.

PAINTING OPEN STUDIO
Wednesdays, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Fridays, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. The open studio opportunity is for currently registered participants in Pyle art classes.
SEW Social - Open Needlework and Crafts
Fridays, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Bring your own project of any kind and join in the fun!
DISCUSSION SESSIONS
Socrates Cafe: If you are ready for some philosophical conversation with other people who like to discuss thoughtful ideas, this is the group for you! An open mind is the only requirement. Saturdays in the Pyle Conference Room, 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.
Current Events Discussion Group: Thursdays, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Discuss current events in the news, books, movies, etc. Registration is required for this activity, which is currently also available virtually. Call the Pyle Front Desk to register.
Men's Group: Tuesdays, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Informal discussion just for guys.
