Youth Basketball Mission Statement:

Tempe's Youth Basketball programs have been specifically designed to introduce student athletes to the game of basketball, while providing a fun and safe environment to grow and evolve in the sport. Players learn lessons in teamwork and develop skills to help them succeed on and off the court.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW: 

• Tempe offers quality basketball instruction for K- 8th grades. Male and female student athletes of all skill levels are invited to play.
• Games are played on Saturdays at City of Tempe gymnasiums.  Practices vary by grade level and leagues.
• Participants are taught fundamental skills and are introduced to offensive and defense strategies.

Small Ball Hoops; K - 3rd Grade

Program dates: Saturdays; Sept. 14 - Nov. 9
Location: Kiwanis Recreation Center; 6111 S. All-America Way

K & 1st Grade: Co-Rec
8:30 - 9:45 a.m.
2nd Grade: Co-Rec
10:00 - 11:15 a.m.
3rd Grade: Co-Rec
11:30a.m. - 12:45 p.m.

Camp Assessment
Players will go through various drills and scrimmages and will be evaluated throughout the assessment for team placement at the end of the session.  Parent orientation will also be conducted to discuss league details.
Date: Saturday, Sept. 7

4th & 5th Grade: Co-Rec
9 - 11 a.m.
6th - 8th Grade: Boys
11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
6th - 8th Grade: Girls
2 - 4 p.m.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

Registration is open from July 15 to September 2. To sign up, log into or create your ActiveNet account or visit us at one of our Recreation/Community Centers.  Click HERE for a list of centers.
