Our philosophy:

City of Tempe Adult Sports leagues ensure a fun, safe and enjoyable experience, while maintaining a fair, competitive and recreational environment.

Adult Softball is conducted three seasons per year. We offer both Men's and Co-Rec leagues with up to three divisions per night. Leagues are played at Tempe Sports Complex Softball fields and Kiwanis Park Softball fields.

Adult Softball Winter 2025 Team Registration Information

Online Registration- Click HERE to register.
- Cost: Single Headers $393, Double Headers $613
Open registration for all teams will be from Nov. 4-Dec. 16, 2024. Registration closes Dec. 16, 2024 (or when league fills). No registration refunds will be issued after registration closes, unless the leagues are cancelled.
In-Person registration: The Recreation Office is CLOSED. Online registration is highly recommended. However, In-Person registration can be taken at one of the City of Tempe Community Centers if online registration is not possible.

No team will be registered without full payment. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Winter 2025 season will begin play on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025.

League Rules and Supplementary Documents

League Rules - Several rules have been updated this season as we move to a more universal rulebook with our partnership with the cities of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Scottsdale. Please reach out to the Adult Sports Coordinator for a copy of the current rulebook at adultsports@tempe.gov.

Team Roster - Roster management is now done through TeamSideline.

COVID-19 Waiver - All participants are required to sign the COVID-19 waiver. Please acknowledge the waiver through your TeamSideline account.

City of Tempe Return to Play Guidelines - There are currently no COVID-19 restrictions for playing outdoor sports. However, masks and social distancing are strongly encouraged in the dugout and when gathering as a team.

Bat Testing - REQUIRED

Softball Bat Compression Testing

All bats used in City of Tempe Adult Softball leagues must be an ASA/USA approved bat and are required to pass a bat compression test conducted by a City of Tempe Adult Sports staff person or partnering city staff.
Bats must have the "All City Softball" sticker for the current year.

How do I get my bat tested?
- Tests will be conducted at Dawson and Kiwanis fields on all game nights.
  - If your bat does not have an All-City sticker with the correct year, it will need to be tested.
  - The City of Tempe has partnered with the cities of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Scottsdale. We have created an “ALL CITY SOFTBALL” sticker that will be valid for leagues in all 5 cities. This means if you get your bat tested in any of the other four cities and get the All-City sticker, you won’t have to get it tested in Tempe and vice versa.
