Landlord Promise Program

The Tempe Housing Authority (THA) seeks to make an exceptional experience for every landlord who works with us to provide affordable housing options for renters using our housing voucher programs. With damage claim assistance, provided through the Landlord Promise Program, the THA promises to help keep your rental home market ready, so you can focus on what you do best – providing a place for Tempe renters to call home.

Housing Choice Voucher Program

The City of Tempe Health and Human Services Department through its Housing Services division, a public housing authority (PHA), provides rent subsidy to eligible low to extremely-low income individuals and families through the Housing Choice Voucher Program. The program gives individuals and families the same choices as other renters.

Housing Choice Voucher holders find suitable housing that meets their own particular needs and program requirements. Once an apartment or house is located, the Housing Authority inspects it to ensure it qualifies as decent, safe and sanitary housing. The individual signs a lease with their landlord and the landlord signs a contract with the Housing Authority. The Housing Authority will pay part of the rent directly to the landlord.

Housing Navigator

The City of Tempe Housing Navigator plays a crucial role in facilitating the successful placement of individuals and families in affordable housing through the City of Tempe Housing Voucher programs. This position involves collaboration with landlords, tenants and various community stakeholders to ensure the effective utilization of housing resources.
