In 2017, Tempe City Manager Andrew Ching convened a group of East Valley city and town managers to specifically discuss regional homelessness. City and town managers acknowledged that the impacts of homelessness are not confined to city or town boundaries and that it would be valuable to discuss opportunities, best practices, resources, and individual approaches in a group setting. The group meets regularly.

Tempe works closely with the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) on regional approaches to homelessness and participates in the county's annual Point-in-Time homeless count.
