These small groups are facilitated by an accredited Triple P practitioner and cover a variety of topics of concern to parents and caregivers during this time. You are welcome to participate in as many as you would like. Topics will change weekly.

Two very common problems that parents have is coping with their child’s crying and separation anxiety issues. Both are normal for babies but can be stressful and frustrating to parents. This discussion group provides information to help you understand these behaviors and suggestions for coping with these behaviors.

Are you looking forward to the day your child no longer needs diapers? Toilet training can seem like a big task! Relax, your child will learn to use the toilet when they are ready. This discussion group will provide you with suggestions about how to start toilet training with your child.
Sept. 18, 10:30 a.m. -12 p.m. Dealing with Disobedience
All children are disobedient sometimes. But when disobedience is frequent, parents can become frustrated. This discussion group will provide you with some positive parenting suggestions to help you to teach your child to accept limits, do as they are told, and to understand the meaning of the word “no.”

Children need a good night’s sleep, so they have enough energy for the next day. Parents need adequate sleep and some child-free time to ensure their own needs are met. This discussion group will provide you with positive parenting strategies to help you develop good bedtime routines and manage difficult behaviors at bedtime.

Mealtimes are a great time for family members to get together and enjoy one another’s company. But mealtimes can also be stressful and chaotic. This discussion group will provide you with suggestions for encouraging independent eating, eating a variety of foods and positive mealtime behaviors.

Learning to share is an important part of growing up. Toddlers are beginning to learn about ownership and can be possessive about some things. Problems can occur over sharing when other children visit your home or during outings with other children. This discussion group will provide information on child development and tips for teaching your toddler how to share.
Dec. 11, 10:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Tantrums
The first time your toddler throws a tantrum may be a real surprise! It is important to deal with tantrums as soon as they start. This discussion group provides information about tantrums and suggestions for managing tantrums and teaching your child to calm down quickly.
Dec. 15, 5 - 6:30 p.m. Language & Literacy Development
Toddlers’ understanding and use of language grow quickly and are closely related to their general understanding of the world. Parents can play an important role in stimulating their child’s communication and language development. This discussion group will examine the development of language and the important of language and literacy in the home. You will gain useful information and tips on enhancing literacy development with your child.

Teen Triple P provides classes and support to parents of teens. This program is supported by Tempe Community Council
Online discussion groups
Drop-in discussion groups offer an overview of the positive parenting principles for all parents and are followed by topic-specific discussions. Parents and caregivers gain support and positive parenting tools and tips to address a variety of challenges and commonly encountered problems. These include: getting teenagers to cooperate, coping with teenagers’ emotions, reducing family conflict, and building teenagers’ survival skills.
