Building inspections verify that construction follows City codes, which assist in maintaining safe building structures for occupants. Once a construction permit has been issued and the work has begun, building inspections must be requested through Community Development, Building Safety, Inspections Section. All work must be approved by the inspector before proceeding with the next step of construction. For your convenience, building inspections can be scheduled through our 24-hour Interactive Voice Response System (IVR) or they can be scheduled online through the Tempe's Citizens Access Portal.

Requests received before midnight will be inspected the following business day between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Requests can be made up to two weeks in advance.
For an estimated time of arrival, call 480-350-8341, between 6 and 6:30 a.m. the morning of your scheduled inspection.
