Project Description
As part of the City of Tempe’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP), small scale roadway improvements along Southern Avenue from Fair Lane to Diablo Way are being designed and implemented to enhance safety of all users. Planned improvements include:
- Elongation of the existing Southern Ave. median structure about 60 feet west of the center of the Fair Lane and Southern Avenue intersection preventing both left turns out of southbound Fair Lane onto eastbound Southern Avenue and from eastbound Southern Avenue onto northbound Fair Lane.
- New striping from Fair Lane to Diablo Way to improve site visibility for safer left turns at Potter Drive.
- New ADA compliant ramps at Fair Lane and a pedestrian crossing of Southern Ave. with sidewalk ramp on the south side.
