Specialty or Treatment Courts address underlying problems that contribute to criminal behavior. The goal is to address the root causes of each individual’s criminal behavior and to reduce repeat offenses. Defendants are ordered to comply with certain conditions and asked to return to court on a regular basis to ensure that they are following court directives.

Tempe Municipal Court participates in three treatment courts: The East Valley Regional Veterans Court (EVRVC), Mental Health Court (MHC) and Regional Homeless Court (RHC).
