Serving on a city board or commission is a terrific way to get involved in local government and to start making a difference to our community.  Thank you for getting involved in helping to define the direction of our City.  Tempe is grateful for your service.

The City Council established the boards and commissions to act in an advisory capacity to the Council by making recommendations on issues within the scope of their duties.

As an appointee to a board or commission, you are now considered a public official under Arizona state law.  State law requires that each public official complete a Loyalty Oath of Office prior to serving and participating on a board or commission.  State law also requires that at least one day prior to serving on a board or commission, appointees review Arizona’s Open Meeting Law materials prepared by the Attorney General’s Office.

The following resources are provided to assist you with the commitment of your new role serving on a board or commission.

For assistance with or questions about any of these materials, contact the staff liaison working with your Board or Commission.
