Volunteer Opportunities - Tempe Police Pipe Band

The Tempe Police Pipe Band is the ceremonial color guard for the City of Tempe and the Tempe Police Department.  

The band meets every Monday night from 6:00 to 8:30 P.M. in the auditorium of the Tempe Police Department, at 120 East 5th Street in Tempe.

Requirements

Any experienced piper, drummer or Highland dancer over the age of 13 is invited to apply.  Beginners and intermediate students who are serious about becoming proficient are also welcome.  Approved candidates must:

  • Submit a completed Application
  • Meet with the Volunteer Coordinator for a preliminary interview
  • Pass a criminal background check
  • Be fingerprinted
  • Be interviewed by the Pipe Major and the Drum Sergeant (as applicable)

Duties and Details

  • Represent the City of Tempe, the Tempe Police Department and its officers, as well as all Arizona law enforcement personnel, at memorial services, parades and public performances throughout the state and the southwest.
