Tempe Police Arrest Suspect Sending Explicit Image to a Minor and also Found in Possession of Child Pornography

On Wednesday, March 6, 2013 Tempe Detectives arrested 22 year old Joshua Vehmeier (DOB: 05/27/1990) at his residence in Mesa for the following offenses: 

    • Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (class 2 felony) 
    • Furnishing harmful items to a minor (class 4 felony)

On February 22, 2013 Vehmeier contacted a 16 year old female that had posted an ad on Craigslist advertising babysitting services. During the exchange of e-mails Vehmeier sent an explicit photograph to the victim.

Through investigation detectives established that Vehmeier knew the victim was a minor when he sent the explicit photograph. A search warrant was served on Vehmeier’s residence, at which time his computer and other electronics were taken for processing.

A preliminary search of the computer revealed several images of child pornography. At this time detectives are continuing to work this investigation. Vehmeier was booked into the County Jail and held to see a judge. Anyone with information can contact the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
