Tempe Police Looking for Carjacking/Kidnapping Suspect

Tempe Police are seeking the public’s help in locating and identifying a suspect in a carjacking and kidnapping. On 01/29/2013 at about 6:10 PM, an unknown suspect committed armed robbery and kidnapping in the parking lot of Fry’s Marketplace located at 1835 E. Baseline Road, Tempe. The suspect asked the victim for a ride in his vehicle, and then threatened to shoot him if he did not give him cash. The victim managed to escape and the suspect stole the victim’s vehicle and fled the area.

Just prior to this attack, the same suspect attempted to kidnap a female victim in her vehicle from the parking lot of Walgreens, located at 6404 S. McClintock Dr. Tempe. The victim was able to defend herself and the suspect fled on foot and was not apprehended.

The suspect is described as a White or Hispanic male, mid 20’s to mid30’s, 5’8” – 5’10”, medium build, thin beard, white baseball hat, white long sleeve shirt under a dark t-shirt, dark Nike Jacket with white “swoosh” on the back. Attached is a composite sketch of the suspect.
