The Board of Adjustment hears appeals to denials of variances or approvals of abatements. The Board consists of seven (7) members and two (2) alternates. Each member must be a Tempe resident. Alternate members serve at Board meetings whenever one or more regular Board member is unable to attend or must decline due to a conflict of interest. The terms are for three years and meetings are held as needed. (A.R.S. §9-462.06. Zoning & Development Code, Chapter 3, Sec. 1-306)
