TEMPE, Ariz. – Swim season officially begins Memorial Day weekend in Tempe. Beat the heat and keep your family entertained at Tempe’s affordable, fun pools and splash playgrounds.

Escalante Pool features a six lane lap pool, zero-depth entry play pool with play equipment and two slides. Admission is 75 cents for youth ages 6-17 and $1.25 for adults ages 18 and older. Children under 6 are free. The pool is open Monday through Thursday 1-5 p.m.; Friday 1-7 p.m.; Saturday 1-5 p.m.; and Sunday 1-6 p.m.
Kiwanis Wave Pool

The Kiwanis Wave Pool is a year-round indoor heated pool featuring a lap pool with six lanes and zero-depth entry. The Wave Pool offers 3 foot waves in varying patterns and a 15 foot tall double spiral water slide and splashdown pool. Admission is $5 for ages 2-12 and $7 for ages 13 and older. In June, the Wave Pool is open Sunday through Friday from 1-5 p.m. On Saturdays in June, the pool will have double waves from Noon – 3 p.m. and 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. In July, the Wave Pool is open daily from 1-5 p.m.
Splash Playground at Tempe Beach Park

The Splash Playground at Tempe Beach Park is a one-acre playground featuring water buckets, play equipment and waterfalls. Lifeguards are on-hand during operating hours; however, children should always be watched by an adult while enjoying the splash playground. Admission is free. The playground is open daily from 10 a.m.–7 p.m.
Neighborhood Spray Pads
Esquer Park, Jaycee Park and Hudson Park
Tempe also offers three neighborhood spray pads, perfect for families and young children to run around and cool off. Children should always be watched by an adult while enjoying a neighborhood spray pad. No lifeguards or attendants are on duty. Admission is free. Spray pads are open daily from 9 a.m.–7 p.m.
Swim lessons begin again in June. Classes are offered for all ages and skill levels at both Escalante and Kiwanis Recreation Center pools, and can be found in the summer 2013 Tempe Opportunities brochure at www.tempe.gov/brochure. Registration for summer programs is underway now.
Pool and splash playground hygiene
While at Tempe’s aquatic facilities, please follow these simple hygiene guidelines to keep your family and our pools clean and safe:
• Do not swallow the water from the pool or splash playground
• Give your kids plenty of restroom breaks
• Use swim diapers if children are not yet potty trained
• Shower before entering the pool or splash playground
• Wash your hands after using the restroom
• Do not visit the pools or splash playground if you are or have recently been ill
