Exhibition celebrates animals worldwide

Animal CrackersTEMPE, Ariz. “Animal Crackers,” a family-oriented exhibition featuring animal-themed works by local and national artists, will be on display from June 7-Sept. 7 at the Gallery at Tempe Center for the Arts (TCA), 700 W. Rio Salado Parkway.

Admission is free.

The work of artists Dick George, of Tempe; Jeff Falk, Christopher Jagmin, Carolyn Lavender, Christy Puetz and Joe Ray, all of Phoenix; Lauren Strohacker, of Scottsdale; Barbara Burton, of Mesa; Anne Coe, of Apache Junction; and Jasen Evoy, of Gilbert; celebrate animals from across the world.

Additionally, the exhibition features artworks on loan from Mesa Contemporary Arts by the late Luis Jimenez, formerly of N.M., and Rosen Jane, of San Gregorio, Calif.

TCA is incorporating outreach programs and Saturday art workshops with local artists and organizations such as the Phoenix Zoo. Phoenix Zoo will also display photographs of favorite zoo animals as well as artworks painted by animals including Ruby the Elephant.
