The Hardy Drive Streetscape project  will enhance the streetscape on Hardy Drive between University Drive and Broadway Road. The project will include bicycle and pedestrian enhancements, public art, ADA improvements and landscaping. The project is intended to promote neighborhood stability, sustainable business and development efforts while continuing Tempe's commitment to alternative modes of transportation. The project is identified in the Comprehensive Transportation Plan as part of the Tempe 2030 General Plan.

Northbound Hardy Drive between Broadway Road and 13th Street is closed until April 28 to allow for construction of the Hardy Drive Streetscape Project. Local access via southbound Hardy Drive will be maintained. Bus route 62 will be detoured as follows: Regular route north on Hardy Dr. to Broadway Rd.; west on Broadway Rd. to Priest Dr.; north on Priest Dr. to University Dr.; east on University Dr. to Hardy Dr.; north on Hardy Dr. to resume regular route.

Southbound  Hardy Drive between 13th Street and Broadway Road is closed April 28 until May 12 to allow for construction of the Hardy Drive Streetscape Project. Local access via northbound Hardy Drive will be maintained. Bus route 62 will be detoured as follows: Regular route south on Hardy Dr. to University Dr.; west on University Dr. to Priest Dr.; south on Priest Dr. to Broadway Rd.; east on Broadway Rd. to Hardy Dr.; south on Hardy Dr. to resume regular route.

This project is funded with $1.89 million in federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality grant money. The city of Tempe would also contribute (through the transit fund) a 5.7% match of the total grant money received. Construction will begin March 17, 2014 and last until Jan. 17, 2015.
