The City of Tempe Diversity Office is offering a program entitled, “Who’s Your Neighbor?”-- A Luncheon Lecture Series on Cultural Awareness. This program is a series of presentations focused on learning about who lives, works, and plays in our Tempe community. While individuals may know about their own culture, traditions and lifestyles, some people may not know about or understand their neighbor’s cultures, traditions and lifestyles. The purpose of the lecture series is to create a greater understanding of each other in an effort to eliminate biases.
In June of 2011, the 8th Hindu Temple in the Valley opened in Tempe near University and Priest. The Sri Venkata Krishna Kshetra Temple serves approximately 1,000 families. Our speaker, Dr. S. Narasinga Rao, from the Sri Venkata Krishna Kshetra Temple will discuss Hinduism, the history of India, Indian culture, and Indian philosophy.
The program will be presented on Wednesday, June 5th, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Tempe City Council Chambers, 31 E. 5th Street, Garden Level. Parking is available in the parking garage located at 177 E. Fifth St., immediately east of City Hall.
