New Folds for the Arts and Academics
4/5/2013 - 8/7/2013 10:00 AM
Students from New School for the Arts and Academics are combining their math and art skills in the free exhibition “New Folds for the Arts and Academics."
This multi-media mathematics and art exhibition features origami sculptural pieces. Students use the art of paper folding (origami) and paper cutting (kirigami) to explore 2- and 3-dimensional forms utilizing concepts found in art and academic disciplines. Students created modular pieces that will be put together to make larger sculptural pieces symbolic to dance, photography, math, fashion, visual arts and creative writing.
The Post Office on Mill Avenue gallery space is operated by Tempe Community Galleries and highlights local artists working in a variety of media and themes. Special emphasis is placed on work that is fun, eye-catching and unusual.
