Tempe Artists Look at Arizona
Tempe Artists Guild members are presenting “Arizona Through Our Eyes,”
an art exhibition focusing on Arizona themes. Over thirty local artists will display original
landscapes, portraits, and still lifes at the Tempe History Museum from August through
October.
To prepare for the show, members traveled around the state to photograph scenes that
they later developed into finished compositions in oil, acrylic, or watercolor. “In a sense,
we artists are historians,” says member Gail Boyd, “because we are recording a slice of
our state at this point in time.”
The exhibit will open at the Tempe History Museum starting on August 13 and run
through October 20. An Artist’s Reception is open to the public and is scheduled for
Friday, September 6 from 5-7 PM.
