Looking to volunteer, but don't have the time to make a permanent commitment? Listed below are one-day volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups with the City of Tempe. All volunteers must register with the Volunteer Coordinator at 480-350-5190 before participating.

Check back from time to time as activities may be added, reopen or close. You can also request to be placed on the wait list for "filled" activities.

MARCH 2014

 

Youth Science Fair (6-8 volunteers) -- OPEN
Friday, March 28, 10:00a-1:00p
Volunteers will help with set-up of tables/chairs, run snack/juice table, craft tables and clean-up after event.

APRIL 2014

Family Bingo Night (3-4 volunteers) -- OPEN
Friday, April 4, 5-8 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to help set-up, call and check numbers at this fun bingo night for the whole family.

Senior Health Expo (2-3 volunteers) -- OPEN
Wednesday, April 9, 3 to 5 p.m.
Strong, muscular volunteers are needed to help move and set-up tables and chairs for this free health event for seniors.

Senior Health Expo (2-3 volunteers) -- OPEN
Thursday, April 10, 7a - 8:30a and/or 12:30p - 2:30p
Strong, muscular volunteers are needed to help move and take-down tables and chairs, as well as bring in outdoor signage after the health fair.

Fabulous Friday Social Dance (2 volunteers)--filled
Friday, April 11, 5:30p-9:15p
Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, collect door fees, serve refreshements and interact with special needs teens and adults at this monthly dance just for them!

Free Art Friday/Planet Earth-National Geographic Style (10-12 volunteers) -- OPEN
Friday, April 11, 9a - noon
Volunteers are needed to help run craft and other activities, as well as serve refreshments at this fun, free activity for preschool-age children.

Play Day - (30 volunteers) -- OPEN
Saturday, April 12, 2014 8:30a-2p
Volunteers are needed to help run outdoor activities at Kiwanis Park. It will be a fun, action-packed day.

Hippity Hop Holiday Happenings (2 volunteers) -- OPEN
Monday, April 14, 3:30p -5:30p
 
Volunteers will help with set-up of tables/chairs, run craft tables and clean-up after event.

Community Egg Hunt (5-10 volunteers) -- OPEN
Saturday, April 19, 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. or 9a-12:30p
Volunteers are needed to help set-up and decorate and hide eggs at this fun, free hunt for the community.

Zero Waste Day at the Tempe Fire Training Facility (15 volunteers) -- OPEN
Saturday, April 19, 7a - 1p
Volunteers will assist and have contact with residents who bring in recyclable items and will be receiving donated items like canned food, clothing, shoes, etc. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

 

MAY 2014

Early Childhood Education Program Graduation Ceremony (6-8 volunteers)-- OPEN
Thursday, May 1, noon-4 OR 4:00p-8:00p
Volunteers will help with set-up of tables/chairs, blow up balloons and decorate. Help with handing out flyers, keeping the children in their lines, handing out snacks/juice and cleaning up after event.

Mother's Day Luncheon (8 volunteers) -- OPEN
Friday, May 9, 2014, 11:15am to 12:45pm
Spa day and special lunch for our mothers and grandmothers. Volunteers are needed to give manicures to our ladies.

Volunteers are needed to help with set-up, collect door fees, serve refreshments and interact with special needs teens and adults at their monthly dance that's just for them!

Spring Spelling Bee (1-2 volunteers) -- OPEN
Wednesday, May 14, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to help check spelling papers and hand out candy prizes at this fun informal spelling bee for elementary school children.

Free Arts Friday/Play Day (10-12 volunteers) -- OPEN
Friday, May 16, 9a - noon
Volunteers are needed to help run craft and other activities, as well as serve refreshments at this fun, free activity for preschool-age children.

Karaoke Game Night (1-2 volunteers) --OPEN

Volunteers needed to help run karaoke or Wii games at this fun night for teens and adults with special needs.
