The purpose of the Industrial Development Authority is to promote industry and develop trade in the Tempe area, to acquire, own, construct, lease, sell and dispose of all kinds of properties, and to assist in the rehabilitation, expansion and development of businesses and industries which promote and assure job opportunities and an improved standard of living and property in the City. (Resolution No. 1615, July 1980)
The Industrial Development Authority may consist of as few as three (3) and as many as seven (7) members. The members of the Authority are selected from the qualified electors of the City of Tempe by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council for a term of six years. Meetings are usually held the first Tuesday of each month. There is no set meeting location.
