Tempe Town Lake Junior Rowing
Spring 2013 !!
The Tempe Town Lake Junior Rowing Program has been operating on Tempe Town Lake for several years. The athletes have traveled around the country to compete at a national level. This team is open to boys and girls ages 13-18 from all over the valley. The team is represented by many of the local schools and the athletes come together to race as one. There is no experience necessary and the team is divided into a Varsity Squad and a Novice Squad. Every year new athletes join to become rowers and increase their opportunities to earn a college scholarship. Generally, practices are Monday-Wednesday-Friday from 4-6pm September-May. Please understand that even though this is a club, we conduct our program with the same rules and expectations of a varsity high school sport. Spring 2013 Class Schedule
Registration for Spring 2013 classes begins February 19th for Tempe residents and February 25th for non-residents. Click here to register!
Float Test - Rowing Classes Only (NOT Kayak or SUP)
All rowing participants must complete a 10-minute float test and watch a U.S. Rowing Safety Video (does NOT include stand-up paddleboarding or kayaking). If you have rowing experience, but are new to the City of Tempe rowing program, you must fulfill this requirement. This is done on the first day of class at the Kiwanis Receration Center for new rowers. For additional information, please contact the Boating Office at 480-350-8069.
Junior Recreational Rowing
Our Junior Recreational Rowing Program (high school-age participants) trains three days per week. Float test for first-time rowers will be held 1/7 at Kiwanis Recreation Center pool from 5-6 p.m. Come down to the lake and try this sport for improved fitness and a lot of fun. Fee: $159. 480-350-8069
