Code Complaint Investigation
The Building Safety Inspection Section investigates reports of building code violations; the Planning Division investigates commercial zoning code violations. To report a code violation or obtain further information, see Code Complaints.
Notes: For code violations that are an immediate health, safety, or welfare issue, please contact City of Tempe Development Services at 480 350-8341, Option 1.
Permit Inspection
Once a construction permit has been issued and the work has begun, inspections must be requested through the Building Safety Inspections Section. All work must be approved by the building inspector before proceeding with the next step of construction. For your convenience, Building Safety has a 24-hour Interactive Voice Response System (IVR) for requesting inspections. Further information regarding IVR and Inspection Requirements are listed below.
Requests received before midnight will be inspected the following business day between 6:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Requests can be made up to two weeks in advance. For an estimated time of arrival, call 480 350-8341, Option 1, between 6 - 6:30 am the morning of your scheduled inspection.
Note: Please call 480 350-8475 for Engineering offsite inspections.
