What is Family Self Sufficiency?

Family Self Sufficiency is a voluntary program designed to assist families in achieving economic independence and self-sufficiency through education and job training.

Participating FSS families are required to sign a Contract of Participation with the Housing Services Division.

An FSS family has up to five years to complete specific goals and objectives they have established for themselves in their Individual Training & Service Plan.

The Contract of Participation outlines the rights and responsibilities of the family during their participation in the FSS Program.

Who Can Participate?

	Currently a Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Participant living in Tempe
	18 years of age or older
	Motivated to change your current life circumstances
	Interested in obtaining more education and job training
	Determined to free yourself from having to depend on public assistance

Steps for completing the Program

1. Complete FSS Interest Form

2. Attend FSS Briefing Session

3. Complete FSS Request for Participation

4. Attend an interview/needs assessment with your FSS Case Manager & put down your goals, dreams, strategies and timelines

5. Sign an FSS Contract of Participation

6. Monitor, evaluate and modify the Individual Training & Service Plan, with the assistance of your FSS Case Manager

7. Fully complete your Contract of Participation and graduate from the FSS Program!!
