Volunteer Program for Students
Applications for fall are being accepted!

Middle school and high school students are an important part of the library's volunteer team and serve in a variety of volunteer roles.  Volunteers work a set weekly schedule on a semester-long basis and/or in the summer (June/July). Completion of an application and brief interview are required.  Applications are available on the first day of August, December and April in the Volunteer Office in the Community Services Administration Office on the second floor of the Tempe Public Library, 3500 S. Rural Rd. Following are details of current programs available. Call 480-350-5190 for more information.

YOUTH VOLUNTEER CORPS - YVC volunteers shelve audio and video materials, paperbacks and holiday books; clean and straighten the family play area; prepare craft materials for story times and assist the youth librarians with various other tasks. Volunteers must be enrolled in 6th through 12th grades and be able to work a set weekly shift for a school semester. Attendance at an orientation/training session is mandatory. 

SHELVING ASSISTANTS - Volunteers work in the library's shelf maintenance section and empty the library book drops, scan and sort books and put away library materials. Volunteers must be currently enrolled in 6th through 12 grades and be able to work a set schedule for the school semester. Training is provided on the job.
