One of the city’s most beautiful historic homes, the Niels Petersen House Museum stands as a reminder of Tempe’s past and the residents who helped pave the way for future generations.

The Petersen House, located at 1414 W. Southern Ave in Tempe, is not currently open for regular hours of operation. If you’re interested in exploring this historic property, the Tempe History Museum offers tours of the Petersen House for groups of 6 or more by appointment. A $5 per person donation is requested for tours.

The home is on the National Register of Historic Places and has received the Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation. More information on the architecture of the home.
