Play like a kid again at the 2015 Tempe PlayDay
Free, all-ages community event celebrates activities and recreation for the entire family
In keeping with its designation as a Playful City USA community for the sixth consecutive year, Tempe will host a free day of play for kids of all ages to celebrate play and reap the benefits of being active. PlayDay is scheduled to occur from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28 at Kiwanis Park, at Mill Ave. & All-America Way (Between Baseline Rd. and Guadalupe Rd.).
Participants of PlayDay will have the opportunity to join-in on a variety of structured and unstructured games and events, including: youth sports activities, kayaking dance & movement activities, inflatables and more!
2015 will mark the return of the Diablo Dash at PlayDay. Sponsored by the Tempe Diablos, the Diablo Dash is a free, family-friendly obstacle course that will have you running, crawling, climbing, sliding and laughing all the way to the finish line!
Visitors will also have the chance to enjoy the first year of the Kid Zone Experience! You’ll have the opportunity to get hands-on and try your hand at speed stacking, a salsa making challenge, chess tournament and more – all activities representative of the Kid Zone Enrichment program.
KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting play in children’s lives, chose Tempe as a Playful City USA community. KaBOOM! named 214 cities and towns across the country - 12 of which are in Arizona - as 2015 Playful City USA honorees. Tempe was one of 22 communities given this designation for the sixth consecutive year because of the way it uses play and play spaces to positively impact childhood wellness, public safety and quality of life.
