Whether your interested in learning how to kayak for the first time, brushing up on your skills or taking your skills to the next level, we have the class for you! The City of Tempe offers several kayaking opportunities for youth and adults as well as novices and experienced paddlers.

Kayak Fitness
(18years+)
This is a perfect class for beginner to intermediate paddlers. Geared toward on-the-water fitness and games with a focus on basic strokes and maneuvers, it's the perfect mix of on-the-water fun and fitness. Kayak, personal floatation device and paddle are provided. Fee: $70. 480-350-8069

Essentials of Kayak Touring (18years+)
This class has been developed by ACA certified kayak instructors and is appropriate for all levels of experience. Taught in touring boats (sea kayaks), with a focus on advanced stroke techniques, maneuvers, kayak fitness and rescues, this class will challenge you to learn and refine your skills in a fun and low pressure environment. Half-Day Kayaking Trip to Saguaro Lake (18years+)
Apply what you learned from Essentials of Kayak Touring in this half-day trip to Saguaro Lake. Note: You may register for this class prior to finishing the Essentials of Kayak Touring class, but coach approval will be required. All necessary boating equipment is provided. Fee: $50 480-350-8069

Glow Paddle (10years+)
The wildest and brightest Glow Paddle on Tempe Town Lake. Join us for a night under the stars while we glow and glide across the water. In addition to all necessary kayaking equipment, participants will receive glow in the dark accessories. Feel free to wear glow in the dark clothing items that you don’t mind getting wet. Moonlight Kayak
Spend an enjoyable evening on Tempe Town Lake while paddling in the moonlight. No experience necessary. Bring clothes you don’t mind getting wet, a towel, dry clothes and prepare to howl at the moon! All necessary equipment will be provided. Must be 18 years or older to participate. Fee: $30. 480-350-8069

Youth Kayaking
Whether you are looking for a class that will prepare your son/daughter for a family kayaking trip or an opportunity for them to learn a new sport, this class is for you. Our ACA certified instructors will focus on stroke technique, fitness specific to kayaking and on-the-water training in kayaks. Youth must be between the ages of 10 and 18 to participate. What to Bring and Wear for a Paddling Day 

What to wear:
Clothing that the participants do not mind getting wet.
Some sort of water shoes or sneakers the participants do not mind getting wet. Sandals are permissible as long as they are not open back, flip-flop type sandals.
Hats or Visors
Loose fitting comfortable t-shirt. Depending on the participants sun tolerance they may want to wear an SPF coated top shirt, or a long sleeve t-shirt.
If a participant wants to wear long pants, it is permissible, however they should not be cotton or denim, they should be Polyester or Lycra.
Not Allowed:  Jeans of any kind, including Jean shorts
Long pants that are non-athletic type pants; jeans, cotton or corduroy are not allowed. Hiking boots or dress shoes
